Bar Loretta, the full-service restaurant, bar & market serving elevated, modern Texas cuisine, returns to the Tour this year with a new face behind the bar. This year, we’re shining the spotlight on Pharr, Texas native Alfonso Castillo.
Or as the kids call him….AC. Why AC? Well….before getting behind the bar, AC served as the Program Director for summer camp and after-school programming at the Boys and Girls Club, and the kids couldn’t remember his name. It was easier to use initials instead, so….thats how Alfonso Castillo became known as AC. The more you know….
With a background in Kinesiology, AC knows how to keep that energy flowing, whether it’s through mentoring kids or mixing up killer cocktails. AC is a proud dad who dreams of wandering through the streets of Italy and France, soaking in the sights, sounds, and tastes. But don’t let his wanderlust fool you, he’s right at home here in San Antonio.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: Kinsman After Dark. This cocktail is a refreshing, flavorful twist on a cocktail classic. AC likes his Brandy Alexanders with a hint of citrus, so he’s included Alma Finca Orange Liqueur. This zesty addition brightens up the cocktail, creating a perfect balance between sweet and citrusy. When combined with the dark cacao liqueur, heavy cream and chocolate bitters, you get a silky cocktail with a deep chocolate flavor and citrusy twist. Think of it as a grown-up dessert in a glass, with just the right amount of complexity to keep you coming back for more.
Whether you're a cocktail aficionado looking to explore new flavors, or a newbie, the Kinsman After Dark is a must-try on this year’s Tour. Stop in now through NYE and enjoy AC’s take on the classic Brandy Alexander. And while you’re there, let him explain to you how the Rio Grande Valley is not a valley at all!
