Double Standard.

Bryan Bergman, Double Standard

Double Standard continues to impress locals and tourists alike with its beautiful interior, mouth-watering po’boys and burgers, and of course those insane drink specials. Opened last year in the Rand Building downtown, Double Standard keeps folks coming back for more with specials like their Friday steak lunch with $1 martinis and a happy hour menu that features $1 East Coast oysters and $2 select draft beers. Not sure if the HighWheel 56 and HighWheel Porter they carry are included in that $2 special, but it’s worth exploring.

Their Kinsman Alexander is also worth exploring. Barkeep Bryan Bergman opts to stick to the script with a straight up classic Brandy Alexander: equal parts Kinsman Rakia, cream and crème de cacao and garnished with a beautiful cinnamon dusting using a Double Standard logo stencil. Like they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. It’s a classic for a reason, and the reason is it’s a damn good cocktail!

So while you’re enjoying a classic Brandy Alexander, here are a few conversation starters you can use with Bryan to avoid any awkward silences. Ask him about pinning butterflies, which is a hobby of his that’s been put on the back burner since he’s at Double Standard seven days a week, but he loves what he does. In fact, he’d open his own bar if he ever won the lottery…after buying his parents a house of course. And he’s a cat lover with two of his own, so…you should be able to weave together a decent conversation with that info, right?

Stop by Double Standard and enjoy a classic Brandy Alexander now through NYE. And if you’re worried about parking, don’t be. They offer complimentary parking validation for up to two hours in the Rand Building parking garage, so go ahead and get another Kinsman Alexander.
