Allora.

Megan Currington, Allora

In 2022, Allora set out to bring the delicate romance of the Italian coastline to San Antonio through colorful dining spaces and fresh summer flavors. And as anyone who’s been to Allora can tell you, they’ve certainly succeeded. From handmade pasta to fresh seafood to a tomahawk ribeye, they’ve got it all!

They’ve also got veteran Kinsman Brandy Alexander Tour participant Megan Currington behind the bar to create this year’s rendition of the classic dessert cocktail. Originally from Georgia, Megan’s been in San Antonio for about 12 years and likes to spend her free time cooking. Apparently she can make a mean ratatouille, but she didn’t invite me over to confirm, so I’m calling this fake news until proven otherwise.

Megan’s put together more than one incredible Brandy Alexander for the Tour while at the Fairmount Hotel including 2021’s Rum Raisin Brandy Alexander that combined Kinsman Rakia with spiced rum infused whipped cream and grappa.

This year’s version is inspired by winter in San Antonio and is a fusion of horchata and Mazapán. The highlight of this cocktail is its silky mouthfeel and satisfying almond flavor brought to you by a combination of heavy cream, a house-made almond horchata and Caffo Amaretto, an Italian liqueur made from 100% Sicilian almonds and herbs. If you’re a fan of almonds, you won't be able to stop at just one of these!

Visit Megan and co. at Allora now through NYE and see if you’re able to stop at just one Horchata Rosa.
